Norfolk UMC Ministries

Our church offers a variety of ministries and fellowship opportunities to serve the needs of our parishioners.

Among them is:

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
Our womens fellowship is active in missions and has monthly gatherings, social times, and conducts fund raisers.

UNITED METHODIST MEN
The mens group meets once a month for breakfast and a program and sponsors its annual Chili Cook off.

UNITED METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
The church has 2 youth groups.  Jr. Youth group is open to those in grades 3-6 and the Sr. Youth Group is for grades 7-12.  Among the activities they sponsor is the annual tubing party at Titus Mountain, holiday time babysitting for the parishioners and many outings geared toward the youth.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday school is held during worship and is geared to different age groups.

PRAYER ROOM
A prayer room supplied with reading materials and music is available for private reflection from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. each day.

CHANCEL CHOIR
Those who enjoy singing and worshiping the Lord through music are welcome in the choir.  Practice is 7 p.m. on Wednesday.  The choir also does a large Christmas Cantata for the community each December.

ACOLYTE MINISTRY
Children are encouraged to be part of the worship through their participation in the Acolyte Ministry.  Training is held as needed and all are welcome.

BIBLE STUDY
Bible studies are held 3 times each Monday.  At 9 a.m. a study geared toward senior citizens is held at River View Apartments on High Street.
At noon a ìbrown Bagî bible study is held at Raymondville.  Bring your lunch and bible and share in the fellowship.  Then at 7 p.m. a Lectionary Study is held at the parsonage.  All are welcome to any and all studies.

SCRIPTURE READERS/ GREETERS/ USHERS
Lay persons are welcome to be part of the service through the reading of the word, greeting the flock and ushering in the sanctuary.  See the pastor if interested in these important service ministries.

PRE-SERVICE MUSIC
Service begins at 11 a.m., but at 10:45 the choir director and organist lead all who are in the sanctuary in song.  People can choose their favorite hymns or worship choruses during 15 minutes of casual singing.

FOOD PANTRY
Our church is involved in the ecumencial food pantry which is open once a month and for emergency needs.  Call the office at 384-4572.

COFFEE and FELLOWSHIP TIME
After Sunday service, coffee, juice, snacks and fellowship are offered for all in the church hall.

NURSERY
Nursery services are offered during Sunday services.  Ask an usher or greeter for details.
